Lunar New Year for All with PFLAG NYC

Marchers Gathered for Lunar New Year for All

The & Pacific Islander LGBT People and Their Families">API Project of PFLAG NYC comes into 2014 celebrating its second year of raising awareness about lesbian, gay, bi, and trans issues in the Asian & Pacific Islander community. We have built ties with LGBT organizations in the API community, like NQAPIA, SALGA, Q-Wave, Queer Koreans Alliance, and Dari Project. The involvement of parents has been warmly received, but there is still a long way to go to help families and allies to receive their LGBT loved ones with love and pride.

The Lunar New Year is an important holiday for many in East Asia, and this year will be the fifth year that the LGBT community takes part in Chinatown’s big Lunar New Year Parade. For the second year, the API Project of PFLAG NYC will be a part of the group, Lunar New Year for All, a coalition of many Asian & Pacific Islander LGBT groups. All supporters of PFLAG NYC are invited to join in the fun! As exciting as it is to march in LGBT Pride in June, you can have a totally new experience walking among the lion dancers, dragons, and firecrackers at Lunar New Year!

Plan to join us on Sunday, February 2, 2014, starting from 11:30 a.m. in Manhattan’s Chinatown. If you can stay, there will be a New Year’s Banquet for Lunar New Year for All participants from 3 p.m. after the parade. Details will be provided to marchers. Here is where to meet up:
