Vigil in Support of Israeli LGBT Community

PFLAG NYC is shocked by the shootings at the LGBT Youth Center in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Saturday, August 1, that killed two and left 15 injured. The two who died were participating in a support group for young people coming out, and one was a straight ally of the LGBT community.

Last year, PFLAG NYC was visited by Naomi Harnik, one of the leaders of Tehila, a self-help support group for parents of gay and lesbian children that is the "PFLAG of Israel." She spoke to a PFLAG NYC meeting about the work of Tehila and IGY, an LGBT youth group, who were both very active at the LGBT Youth Center. We have them in our thoughts at this time.

There will be a vigil in New York City this Wednesday, August 5, in remembrance of the victims and in support and solidarity with the the LGBT community and allies in Israel.

PFLAG NYC encourages all who can to go show support:
