To kick off 2026, we want to inform you about some of our partner organizations and the services they have available for PFLAG NYC families and community members! Join us on Thursday, January 22, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. ET for an engaging and informative virtual session featuring Joanna McClintick (they/them) representing The Center and Bo-Andrea Bogats (she/her) representing Generation Q, a part of Queens Community House.

Joanna and Bo-Andrea will share their knowledge, skills, and offerings in the areas of family therapy and comprehensive services for youth and adults, and discuss their respective programs in depth, including eligibility and enrollment requirements. There will also be time for Q&A from attendees.

The workshop will take place on Zoom and is free to attend.

Joanna McClintick (they/them), who will be representing The Center, is an LCSW with over 10 years of experience working at the LGBT Center in Manhattan. Before that, they provided case management support at the Ali Forney Center. A lifelong New Yorker, Joanna lives in Brooklyn with their partner and child.

The Center provides non-judgmental, affirming support for families navigating a child’s coming out process and developing identity. Therapy is available for families with children ages 5 and up who are perceived to be or identify as LGBTQ+, gender nonconforming, queer, or questioning. Family therapy is intended specifically for families who are seeking support around their child’s sexual orientation and/or gender identity development.

Bo-Andrea Bogats (she/her), who will be representing Generation Q, is a relationship-oriented, charismatic, and dedicated Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with a commitment to uplifting and empowering individuals and communities. She has spent time in various capacities, predominantly working with youth and young adults in community-based recreational and educational programs, schools, and community health centers and clinics. Bo-Andrea aims to create spaces and programs where young people and their families are supported, LGBTQ+ lives are protected, queer and trans futures are affirmed, and communities of all identities and backgrounds have equitable access to care, safety, and opportunity.

Generation Q, a part of Queens Community House, is an after-school (2:30–7:00 p.m. Mon–Thurs) drop-in center for 13 to 21-year-old LGBTQIA+ and allied young people. Located in Forest Hills, Queens, Generation Q provides a safe and supportive space to meet and make new friends and community members, have time to complete academic and extracurricular assignments and projects, receive supportive 1:1 and group counseling with social work interns, and engage in art, self-expression, leisure time, video games and board games, and receive assistance and referrals to internship, volunteer, and post-secondary success opportunities. Queens Community House provides programs and services across the lifespan through its 4 Divisions—Youth Services, Young Adults Services, Community Services, and Older Adults Services.
