Financial Literacy Seminar

October 23, 2025 from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

PFLAG NYC is partnering with LoAn Nguyen of New York Life Insurance to host a virtual financial literacy seminar in October! This seminar is designed for LGBTQ+ youth, adults, and their loved ones to gain the tools and understanding to build solid financial platforms for the future!

The seminar will begin with a self-assessment to help you identify where you are now and where you’d like to be. Then, LoAn will share a foundation of financial knowledge you can use to strengthen your situation. Last, there will be a Q&A to help you gain clarity and learn from other participants.

Our Financial Literacy Seminar is free to attend and will take place on Zoom on Thursday, October 23, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. ET. Seminar attendees will also have the opportunity to schedule private consultations with LoAn to get personalized financial advice.

Thanh LoAn Nguyen (she/her) is known by many of our PFLAG NYC families for her years as a staff member in Support Services, where she facilitated countless in-person meetings before the pandemic and virtual meetings on Zoom afterward.

Today, LoAn continues her advocacy work in a new capacity. She has joined New York Life, the nation’s 180-year-old mutual life insurance company, bringing her passion for education and empowerment into the financial space. LoAn believes that financial knowledge is a basic foundation of resilience—just as vital as physical, mental, and emotional well-being. “We need to know the rules to play the game successfully,” she shares.

At the heart of it all, LoAn remains an educator, and she’s committed to sharing knowledge and supporting families in building strong financial foundations. When you’re ready to put your plan into action, she hopes you’ll remember to reach out to New York Life.
