Parenting Tweens

Parenting Tweens

Parenting Tweens is a support group for parents, caregivers, and family members of LGBTQ+ young people entering or in early adolescence (ages 9–15, with some flexibility). There are so many concerns, challenges, and discoveries occurring around early adolescence for queer and trans young people and those who love them, including identity, sexuality, body image, gender-affirming care, names and pronouns, and navigating family, school, and peer relationships. Join our community to meet understanding friends, share information and resources, and get support as we strive to show up and advocate for our kids to be their most authentic selves.

This group meets online on the first Wednesday of each month from 7:00–8:30 p.m. ET.

Have you attended a Parenting Tweens meeting? We'd love to hear from you! You can leave anonymous feedback through our support group attendee feedback form.

In order to keep a safe and confidential meeting space, you must register to attend PFLAG NYC meetings online. The link to join the meeting on Zoom will be provided to everyone who registers in advance.

Please click the button below to access the registration form, and contact [email protected] if you have any questions about the group.

PFLAG NYC groups are peer-to-peer support spaces led by trained volunteer facilitators. Our facilitators do not act as licensed mental health professionals during meetings, nor do they provide counseling or therapy. If you are seeking mental health resources, please contact us, and we can make referrals.
